Selects
At the conclusion of each season the CBFA assembles a League All-Star team which practices for three weeks and then travels accross Canada and to the United States to play in a tournament against comparable teams. These tournaments are played using American rules which gives an additional challenge to our players.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select team began play at the AllStar Youth Football Tournament in Langley, BC on Friday with a narrow 7-6 victory over the Langley Youth All-Stars on a heavily snow covered field.
Cassidy Tan (Hilltoppers) scored the only Calgary touchdown on a 2 yard run. Cole Sabine (Wildcats) added the game deciding convert.
The Selects will now take on the South Delta Rams on Saturday at McLeod Stadium in Langley, BC. Game time is 12:00 PM PST.

CALGARY SELECTS 42 VANCOUVER ALL-STARS 41
The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select team wrapped up play at the AllStar Youth Football Tournament in Langley, BC on Sunday with a thrilling 42-41 last-minute victory over the Vancouver All-Stars and in the process were crowned tournament champions.
Zach Krottner (Stampeders) led the way for the Selects with touchdown runs of 50 and 3 yards. Quarterback KJ Stembridge (Bulldogs) had two touchdown passes of 30 yards to Max McCarty (Colts) and 80 yards to Michael Delgado (Mavericks). Also scoring for Calgary were Romareo Reid (Cyclones) with an 80 yard kickoff return and Daniel Flanagan (Cowboys Grey) who recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. Jonathan Giustini (Mavericks) added 3 converts and the winning 25 yard field goal with eight seconds remaining in the contest.

This year marks the fifteenth appearance for the Calgary squad at the annual competition played under full American rules.
Calgary's only score of the game came on a 30 yard fumble recovery run by linebacker Joe Dutton (Cowboys - Grey)
The Selects will now take on the Belleville All-Stars at 2:00 PM CST on Friday and will wrap up the tournament on Sunday as they try to exact revenge against the Tri-County Metro East All-Stars at 12:30 pm CST.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select team continued tournament play on Friday at the 2013 Pilgrim Bowl with a resounding 47-0 victory over the Belleville All-Stars. This year marks the fifteenth appearance for the Calgary squad at the annual competition played under full American rules.
Leading the way for Calgary was Jacob Izquierdo (Cowboys Grey) with touchdown receptions of 60 yards from quarterback Tae Gordon (Lions) and 16 yards from Declan O'Flaherty (Colts). Other Selects touchdowns were scored by O'Flaherty on a 1 yard plunge, Gordon on a 10 yard dash, Frazer Toenjes (Colts) on a 23 yard scamper and Tyler Santos (Bulldogs) on a 5 yard rush. Izquierdo added 4 conversions and a field goal to cap off the scoring.
The Selects will wrap up their Pilgrim Bowl schedule on Sunday as they try to exact revenge in a re-match of Thursday's defensive battle against the Tri-County Metro East All-Stars at 12:30 pm CST.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select team wrapped up tournament play on Sunday at the 2013 Pilgrim Bowl with an impressive come from behind 25-15 victory over theTri County Metro East All-Stars. This year marks the fifteenth appearance for the Calgary squad at the annual competition played under full American rules.
Down 15-6 at half time, the Selects roared back with 19 unanswered points in the second to win the contest. Scoring for Calgary were Tae Gordon (Lions) on a 2 yard run as well as Frazer Toenjes (Colts) on a 25 yard reception on a pass from Gordon. Jacob Izquierdo (Cowboys Grey) added 3 field goals and a conversion. The defense also chipped in with a safety.
The Selects will return home on Monday with a 2-1 record at the Pilgrim Bowl. The travelling Selects have compiled an impressive 39-7-1 record in the fifteen trips to Belleville.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select team wrapped up tournament play on Sunday at the 2011 Pilgrim Bowl with a resounding 54-0 triumph over the host Belleville Little Knights. This year marks the thirteenth appearance for the Calgary squad at the annual competition played under full American rules.
Quarterback Colton Hunchak (Mavericks) had two touchdown passes of 50 and 5 yards to Spencer Mahura (Cowboys) and Brandon Tillman (Stampeders). Mahura also threw a 25 yard touchdown to Brett Ellerman (Cowboys). Anthony Arnold (Stampeders) had two touchdown runs of 15 and 14 yards. Also scoring for the Selects were Christian Sherman (Bulldogs), Noah Motter (Stampeders) and Brendan Hansen (Eagles) on runs of 10, 2 and 10 yards respectively. This year marks the thirteenth appearance for the Calgary squad at the annual competition played under full American rules.
Leading the way for Calgary was Colton Hunchak (Mavericks) with touchdowns on a 16 yard run as well as a 5 yard pass from Spencer Mahura (Cowyboys). Hunchak also completed an 88 yard pass to Brett Ellerman (Cowboys) for a touchdown. Also scoring rushing touchdowns were Brenden Hansen (Eagles), Noah Motter (Stampeders), Christian Sherman (Bulldogs) and Anthony Arnold (Stampeders), on runs of 5, 2, 35 and 6 yards respectively. The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s Select team wrapped up tournament play on Sunday at the 2010 Pilgrim Bowl with a resounding 31-0 triumph over the host Belleville Little Knights. This year marks the twelfth appearance for the Calgary squad at the annual competition played under full American rules.
Josh Duazo (Storm) opened the scoring on a 2 yard run set up by an intercetion from Dalton Winkworth (Stampeders). Alex Cho (Falcons) then scored on a 10 yard scamper. On the next 2 drives the Selects went to the air game and scored twice. The first was a 15 yard pass to Spencer Mahura (Cowboys) from Ben Kopczynski (Wildcats). Later, Duazo scored on a 10 yard completion from Mahura to make the score 29-0 after the first quarter. The Selects added a safety in the fourth quarter. Micah Teitz (Wildcats) converted 2 of the touchdowns and Kopczynski also ran a convert in.
The Selects will return home on Monday with a 2-1 record at the Pilgrim Bowl. The travelling Selects have compiled an impressive 31-6-1 record in the twelve trips to Belleville.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s Select team continued play on Friday at the 2010 Pilgrim Bowl with a 25-11 defeat at the hands of the Collinsville Raiders. This year marks the twelfth appearance for the Calgary squad at the annual competition played under full American rules.
Calgary's lone touchdown came courtesy of a 70 yard kickoff return by Tyler Chow (Hilltoppers)in the third quarter. Micah Teitz (Wildcats) added the convert and had an earlier field goal.
The Selects will wrap up their Pilgrim Bowl schedule against the host Belleville Little Knights on Sunday at 1:00 PM CST.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s Select team began tournament play on Thursday at the 2010 Pilgrim Bowl with a 34-6 victory over the Mathews-Dickey (St. Louis) Bulldogs. This year marks the twelfth appearance for the Calgary squad at the annual competition played under full American rules.
Leading the way for Calgary was Tyler Chow (Hilltoppers) with 2 touchdowns on runs of 95 and 35 yards. Other Selects touchdowns were scored by Alex Cho (Falcons) on a 9 yard run, Sam Dyer (Cowboys) with a 20 yard interception return and quarterback Ben Kopczynski (Wildcats) on a 25 yard scramble. Micah Teitz (Wildcats) added 2 converts.
The Selects will now take on the Collinsville Raiders at 12:30 PM CST on Friday and will wrap up the tournament against the host Belleville Little Knights on Friday at 1:00 PM CST on Sunday.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s Select team was crowned 2008 Pilgrim Bowl champions on Sunday with a come from behind 14-13 victory over the host Belleville Little Knights.
Landon Bayda (Airdrie Storm) scored both Calgary touchdowns on runs of four and 45 yards. Dustin Bennett (Cochrane Lions) added one convert.
The Calgary squad finished its eleventh appearance in the tournament with a 3-0 record.
The travelling Selects have compiled an impressive 29-5-1 record over that time period.

Mackenzie Meek (Falcons) then hauled in a 35 yard pass from Mahura. In the fourth quarter, quarterback Matthew Blayney (Hilltoppers) completed two touchdown passes, 40 yards to Cordell Minnifee (Hilltoppers) and 25 yards to Denzel Radford (Cowboys) to cement the win. Kellen Forrest (Lions) added three converts.

With five minutes remaining and the Selects trailing 22-20, Alex Kipp (Falcons) punched it in from 4 yards out for the winning score. Jason Orey (Bulldogs) added one convert.

Quarterback Shawn Anderson (Colts) had a big game for Calgary, connecting on scoring strikes of 22 yards to Nikolas Petros (Hilltoppers) and 20 yards to Brandon Fuchs (Storm). Also scoring touchdowns for the Selects was Damjan Miskin (Hilltoppers) with touchdown runs of 8 and 15 yards, Braydon Collins (Wildcats) on a 2 yard plunge and Xavier Savery (Hilltoppers) with a 40 yard gallop. Miskin added two converts.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select team kicked off their Little Knights Football Classic experience in fine style in St. Louis, Missouri with a 52-13 victory over the JJK East St. Louis Flames on a balmy 61F (16C) day. It was an impressive win for the Calgary squad, participating for the ninth time in this tournament played under full American rules.
Scoring for Calgary was Garret Field (Cowboys) with 2 touchdowns on a 70 yard kickoff return and a 20 yard run, along with Akeem Haynes (Golden Hawks) on a 10 yard scamper. Quarterback Eli Prochnau (Lions) passed for 3 touchdowns, 25 yards to Wayde Morgan (Hilltoppers), 10 yards to Andre Skinner (Cowboys) and 30 yards to Lucas Pacentrilli (Mavericks). Tim Coles (Wildcats) also passed to Adam Osterling (Wildcats) for a 10 yard score. Pacentrilli converted 5 of the 7 Select touchdowns.

The Calgary squad is making its ninth appearance in the American rules tournament.
The Selects had 6 different touchdown scorers, including Braden Heffernan (Wildcats) on a 15 yard pass from quarterback Eli Prochnau (Lions). Garret Field (Cowboys) and Andre Skinner (Cowboys) both had 3 yard scoring runs, Akeem Haynes (Golden Hawks) ran one in from 32 yards, Mitch Koch (Mavericks) returned a fumbled kickoff for another touchdown and Wayde Morgan (Hilltoppers) scored from 50 yards out. Lucas Pacentrilli (Mavericks) converted all 6 touchdowns.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select team wrapped up its participation in the Little Knights Football Classic in St. Louis, Missouri with an exciting, last minute, 14-6 victory over the Jefferson County Youth Association (JCYA) Warriors on another warm 60F (16C) day.
The Selects opened the scoring in the third quarter with an 18 yard touchdown run from Andre Skinner (Cowboys). The Warriors tied the game at 6 later in the quarter and the score remained deadlocked until quarterback Eli Prochnau (Lions) plunged over from 5 yards out with 30 seconds remaining. Lucas Pacentrilli (Mavericks) added the convert.
The Calgary squad finished up its ninth appearance in the tournament undefeated with a 3-0 record. The travelling Selects have compiled an impressive 24-4-1 record over that time period.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select Team concluded play on Sunday at the Midwest Junior Football Classic in St. Louis, Missouri, with an impressive 36-6 victory over the Missouri Knight Train. The win gave the Selects the Tournament Championship in their age grouping.
Scoring for Calgary were Rosen Brenya (Mavericks), on a 70 yard kickoff return, Andre Skinner (Cowboys) with a 2 yd run, Steven Lumbala (Golden Hawks) on an 18 yard run, Jeff Hassler (Eagles) with a 53 yard scamper and Brenya again from 11 yards out. Kevan Hafichuk (Hilltoppers) added three converts (kicked converts are worth 2 points).
Congratulations to the boys for winning the Championship at the 2005 MJFC. They have had an incredible experience they can carry with them throughout their lives. The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select Team continued it's winning ways on Saturday at the Midwest Junior Football Classic, taking place in St. Louis, Missouri. On a warm 60F (15C) day, the Selects defeated the Jefferson County Youth Association (JCYA) Warriors 32-12 in the Division Semi-Final. The Warriors are from the St Louis area and prior to today they went undefeated in their league play and won their league's Super Bowl Championship.
Scoring for Calgary were Jake Harty (Stampeders) on a 40 yard run, Steven Lumbala (Golden Hawks) with a 5 yd run, Jeff Hassler (Eagles) an 80 yd scamper, and Jeremy Long (Mavericks) from 2 yards out. Kevan Hafichuk (Hilltoppers) added four converts (kicked converts are worth 2 points).
The Selects now move on to their Division Championship, taking place on Sunday.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association's Select team kicked off their Midwest Junior Football Classic experience in fine style in St. Louis, Missouri with a 28-6 victory over the Chicago Wolfpack on a chilly 38F (3C) day. It was an impressive win for the Calgary squad as the Wolfpack had gone through their entire season undefeated and won the City Championship in their division. Adding to the challenge for the Selects is the fact that all their tournament games will be played using full American rules.
Scoring for Calgary was Chris van Keulen (Lions) on a 10 yd pass from Jeremy Long (Mavericks), Andre Skinner (Cowboys) with a 5 yd run, Jeff Hassler (Eagles) on a 32 yd scamper, and Jeremy Long from 15 yards out. Kevan Hafichuk (Hilltoppers) added a pair of 2 point converts.
The Selects now move on to their Division Semi-Final taking place on Saturday against a St. Louis area team.

CALGARY SELECTS 14 --- COLLINSVILLE RAIDERS 8
The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s Select Team kicked off their 2004 Pilgrim Bowl experience on a muddy field in Collinsville, Illinois Friday morning. The team came away with a hard fought last minute victory over the home town Collinsville Raiders by the score of 14-8.
Weather conditions played a factor as the St. Louis area has received a lot of rain lately. Both teams had trouble getting their footing. The temperature for the game was approximately 40F. The teams battled through a scoreless first half and then the Raiders were the first to hit the scoreboard in the second half. Following the convert it was 8-0 Collinsville. The Selects took the ensuing kickoff and marched all the way to the Raider 2 yard line. From there Ryan Buchan (Mavericks) crashed over for the touchdown. The convert was missed keeping the score at 8-6. Finally with 37 seconds left in the game the Raiders were preparing to punt from their 15 yard line. A bad snap occurred and the Selects were able to tackle the punter inside the 5 yard line. Wendell Geary (Hilltoppers) plowed over from there for the winning touchdown! Curtis Glawson (Eagles) added the convert and the Selects came away with the 14-8 victory!
The Selects will play on Saturday at 10 am Central Time against the Belleville Little Knights and on Sunday at 11 am CT they will wrap up the tournament against the JJK Flames. This team is from East St. Louis and is funded by the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Boys and Girls Club.
RESULTS - SATURDAY NOVEMBER 27TH :
CALGARY SELECTS 15 --- BELLEVILLE LITTLE KNIGHTS 14
The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s Select Team continued their winning ways Saturday on a very rainy 50 degree morning at the 2004 Pilgrim Bowl in Belleville, Illinois. It was the second straight victory for the team comprised of All-Stars from the CBFA. The Pilgrim Bowl is an annual Thanksgiving tournament in the St. Louis, Missouri area attended by hundreds of teams from the United States and a few from Canada. This is the seventh time the CBFA has sent our Select Team to the Pilgrim Bowl.
Although the rain continued throughout the game, the Selects were able to sustain an early drive capped off by Ryan Buchan's (Mavericks) 15 yard touchdown romp. Curtis Glawson (Eagles) added the convert to make it 8-0 Calgary. The tournament is using similar kicking rules to the CBFA where 2 points are awarded for a kicked convert and 1 point for a run or pass into the end zone. Later, the Knights were able to block a Glawson punt and score a tying touchdown. Then on the ensuing kickoff, Calgary fumbled and that set up another Knight touchdown. This time the convert was missed, keeping the score at 14-8 for Belleville.
Late in the third quarter Ryan Buchan once again broke free and went 25 yards for the tying score. On the convert attempt there was a mishandled snap due to a soggy ball, but the holder Jared Clark (Lions) was able to scoop up the ball and toss it to Nick Craig (Lions) for the winning one point convert! The Selects turned back the Knights on a fourth down conversion late in the fourth quarter and the win was in the books 15-14!

The Calgary Bantam Football Association Select Team wrapped up their 2004 Pilgrim Bowl play with an impressive 32-6 victory over the JJK Flames from East St. Louis, a team sponsored by the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Boys and Girls Club. The game was played in overcast 45F conditions in Belleville, Illinois. The win gave the CBFA All-Stars an unblemished 3-0 record in the tournament which is all the more impressive considering the boys had to learn full American rules in just three weeks of practice. The Pilgrim Bowl is an annual Thanksgiving tournament in the St. Louis, Missouri area attended by hundreds of teams from the United States and a few from Canada. This is the seventh time the CBFA has sent our Select Team to the Pilgrim Bowl.
The Selects started the game fast and scored two touchdowns in the first quarter. Nick Craig (Lions) went 45 yards and Wendell Geary (Hilltoppers) had a 10 yard scamper. In the second quarter, Justin Bruneau (Cowboys) added a 5 yard touchdown run. The scoring was capped by Nick Craig in the third quarter on a 3 yard touchdown. Curtis Glawson (Eagles) converted all 4 touchdowns.
Congratulations to the boys for winning their group at the Pilgrim Bowl. They have had an incredible experience that they will carry with them throughout their lives. Thank you very much to the Calgary media for all your coverage throughout the year. We hope to see everyone at Shouldice Park on Saturday August 27th to kick off our 2005 campaign.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s All-Star team kicked off their tournament in Phoenix, Arizona with a 20-20 tie against the Queen Creek Seminoles.
The Calgary scorers were Cody Skeldon with 2 touchdowns, one on a 20 yard scamper and the other a 20 yard reception from quarterback Trent Peterson. Eric Fitterer also scored a touchdown from one yard out. Two of the three TD’s were converted. The temperature in Phoenix on Saturday was 74F.
APACHE JUNCTION OUTLAWS 38 CALGARY SELECTS 15
The CBFA Selects wrapped up their Phoenix tournament experience on Sunday against the Apache Junction Outlaws, a team from the Mesa, Arizona area. The team fought valiantly but came up on the losing end, 38-15.
Scoring for Calgary was Tim Lynn with a 20 yard field goal, Sheldon Lukacs with a 10 yard touchdown run and Evan Rasmussen with a 10 yard touchdown reception thrown by quarterback Trent Peterson.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s All-Star team won handily on Thursday in Collinsville, Illinois by the score of 52-0 over the Collinsville Tri-County All-Stars. The team is competing for the sixth consecutive year in the Pilgrim Bowl, a tournament featuring hundreds of teams from all age groups.
Boneto Edwards opened the scoring with a 47 yard run. This was followed by Todd Antony on a 25 yard scamper. Calgary scored 3 more times in the second quarter. Eric Fitterer scored from 1 yard out while Glynn Jones had 4 and 13 yard runs for touchdowns. The third quarter saw Todd Antony score from 15 yards and Glynn Jones capped the scoring with a 31 yard run.
The Selects take on the Belleville Little Knights on Friday at 7:00 pm. The team will wrap up the tournament on Sunday at 1:00 pm against the Riverview Rams from St. Louis

Our touring Calgary Selects bantam all-stars opened up with a hard fought Thanksgiving Day defeat at the hands of the Belleville All-Stars on Thursday in Belleville, Illinois. The team is participating for the fifth consecutive year in the Pilgrim Bowl, a tournament featuring hundreds of teams of all age groups.
The Cowboys were behind 21-0 at halftime but the boys shook off the nerves and outscored Belleville 16-12 in the second half. Scoring for Calgary was Cheng Wei and Lucas Desmet both on 10 yard touchdown scampers. Brad Parkinson booted both extra points.
Tomorrow the Selects will take on the Chicago Panthers at 8:30 pm. The forecast for tomorrow is 70F with a 40% chance of thundershowers. On Sunday the team will battle the Nebraska Rebels. We’ll keep you posted with the results.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s All-Star team played their second of three games at the Pilgrim Bowl just outside of St. Louis, Missouri on Friday and came away with a lopsided 60-0 victory over the Chicago panthers.
Scoring for the Selects was Cheng Wei with two 30 yard runs, Anthony Woodson with runs of 35 and 40 yards, Trevor MacFarlane on a 40 yard pass reception, Lucas Desmet on a long 90 yard trot, Aaron Niedergesaess from 35 yards out and Loukas Stavropoulos with a 20 yard interception return. Brad Parkinson added 6 converts.
The Selects will wrap up the tournament against the Nebraska Rebels on Sunday and they will return to Calgary on Monday. The weather forecast for Sunday is cloudy in the morning, sunny in the afternoon with highs near 60F. We’ll keep you posted with the results.

The Calgary Bantam Football Association’s All-Star team wrapped up their Pilgrim Bowl experience on Sunday with another big win, this time over the Nebraska Rebels 52-0.
The Calgary scorers were Cheng Wei on a 40 yard run, Trevor Macfarlane on a 20 yard pass from Caleb Clark, Marco Iannuzzi on a 40 yard pass from Brad Parkinson, Oliver Nakahara from 20 yards out, Aaron Niedergesaess on a 6 yard gallop, Brad Parkinson on a 20 yard reception on a Caleb Clark pass and finally Lucas Desmet took one in from 20 yards out. Brad Parkinson added 5 converts.
Congratulations to the boys and hopefully they had an experience to remember for a lifetime. The CBFA is proud of all of you!

Our touring Calgary Selects bantam all-stars opened up with an impressive Thanksgiving Day victory over Omaha, Nebraska on Thursday in Belleville, Illinois. The team is participating for the fourth consecutive year in the Pilgrim Bowl, a tournament featuring hundreds of teams of all age groups.
Scoring for the Selects were Jeff Wollin (Bulldogs) on a 5 yard off tackle, while Marshall McMahon (Broncos) scampered in later on a 20 yard sweep play. Rolly Lumbala (Wildcats) was a standout for the team as he rumbled for about 110 yards rushing.
Tomorrow the Selects will travel to Collinsville, Illinois to take on the hometown Raiders. On Sunday the team is back in Belleville to do battle with the Tri-County All-Stars. We'll keep you posted with the results.

COLLINSVILLE RAIDERS 0
The Calgary Selects were in action again on Friday, this time in Collinsville, Illinois. The boys gave another strong defensive effort as they downed the Raiders on their home turf 18-0.
Brett Lawton (Wildcats) opened the scoring for Calgary on the defensive side of the ball when he returned an interception 10 yds for the major.
Rolly Lumbala (Wildcats) then went the distance on an 80 yard toss play.
Jeff Wollin (Bulldogs) later came up with his second touchdown of the tournament on a 12 yard off tackle play.
The team will now enjoy a day off from action. They will be crossing the Mississippi to take in the sights, sounds and smells of lovely downtown St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday.
Sunday will see the Selects face possibly their toughest test as they take on the Tri-County All-Stars among the cornfields back in Belleville, Illinois.

(OVERTIME)
The Calgary Selects wrapped up a very successful 3 game appearance in the 2000 Pilgrim Bowl with an exciting 20-14 overtime victory against the Tri-County All Stars.
Scoring for Calgary were Jeff Wollin (Bulldogs) on a 5 yard run followed by Rolly Lumbala (Wildcats) on another 5 yard scamper. Jeff Parkinson (Cowboys) added the conversions.
Finally, with the score at 14-14 in overtime, Jeff Wollin once again went off tackle for 9 yards and the winning score! It was Wollin's fourth major score of the tournament. Congratulations, team!
The Selects went 3-0 in this tournament and each victory was against a very tough opponent. The team scored 50 points while giving up only 14. In the four years that this team has travelled to Belleville, their record is 10 wins against only 2 losses.
